1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A rare and unusual weapon made by a clan of vigilantes, the nightstaff is a short metal quarterstaff. A nightstaff count as a quarterstaff for the purpose of feats and abilities and much like a quarterstaff is a double weapon.

The nightstaff's secret comes in it ability to form an entirely different weapon. A nightstaff can be split in half with the same action required to draw a weapon, turning it into two hard metal sticks linked by a long metal wire. In this form the weapon can be used as two light weapons which grant a +2 bonus on disarm, using the enhancement of each end of the night staff. Alternatively a single head may be used, granting the weapon reach and the trip special quality. A nightstaff is a finesse weapon in all its forms. Which mean it can be used in conjunction with the Weapon Finesse feat even if it is not a light weapon.

Since metal wire linking both staves is an excellent rope it is more than capable of binding creatures. It is treated as a 15 feet Silk Rope with a hardness of 10 and grant a +4 competence bonus on checks made to bind creatures. If used as a rope or to bind a creature it cannot be used as a weapon.
