Robot Unicorn Attack.jpg
Chase your dreams!

Note[edit]

This monster is balanced to fit in a high level of balance game. I have taken the liberty of not using the standard D&D rules for determining various statistics for this monster. As a result, it may seem a bit stronger (or weaker) than some SRD monsters of the same CR and that is fine. I think it will pose an appropriate challenge for characters of its CR.

Advancement
Hold on to the night (Su) There is no shame holding on to the night. And robot unicorns totally do that. They never stop chasing their dreams and are always under the influence of a Freedom of Movement spell as cast by a 7th level sorcerer. In addition, they can make any number of turns while running and always use the run action unless they are prevented from doing so somehow. This means they probably will never actually use their hoof attacks.
Always, I want to be with you (Su) Robot unicorns, when created, are granted 3 wishes. They use their wishes to chase their dreams. Whenever a robot unicorn dies, it will come back to life in 1d4+1 rounds, appearing within 60 ft. of where it died and using up one of its three wishes. Once its wishes are used up, it is Game Over. These wishes are accounted for in its CR.
Make believe with you (Su) Once per round, as a free action, a robot unicorn can create an illusory effect as if it cast one of the following spells: blur, dream (the unicorn can still run while in a trance with the dream spell), mirage arcana (to create rainbow bridges and sparkles), or rainbow pattern. The save DC is 18 and the caster level is 5.
Live in harmony (Su) Each round, any creature that is within 30ft. of the robot unicorn at the start of its turn and it considers friendly heals 1d8+5 damage as if they were affected by a Cure Light Wounds spell.
Dash! (Ex) When a robot unicorn takes a run action, it can Trample a single creature. Unlike a normal trample, the robot unicorn will do anything to make wishes come true and can trample creatures of a larger size category. This attack deals 2d6 + 6 damage (Reflex DC 18) and whether the creature passes its save or not, the robot unicorn can make a horn attack against it.
Double Jump (Ex) Robot unicorns can make a second jump check and add the results to their first jump check whenever they jump. They also aren't limited by their height for jump checks. Their +30 to jump checks includes their base speed bonus. On average, a double jump will give them a 80 ft. long and 20 ft. high jump.

Running gracefully along the rocky ridges, you see a silver bodied unicorn with a prismatic mane. You can see an unbridled passion in its eyes as it chases its dreams.

Robot unicorns are majestic creatures that spend their lives chasing their dreams. Unfortunately, they are often hunted by creatures for their valuable unicorn tears. With the price of a good glass of unicorn tears these days, it is no wonder there are very few robot unicorns left!

Treasure[edit]

Each time a robot unicorn is killed, unicorn tears can be harvested from its eyes. These tears are worth 650 gp on the open market and give a +4 enhancement bonus, when quaffed, to any 2 statistics chosen by the drinker. This effect lasts 24 hours.

Construction[edit]

Robot unicorns are usually produced in the Rainbow Factory in Ysgard's clouds, where their creation is usually a secret. Supposedly the formula, beyond enough shaped mithral for the body, is a combination of hope, dreams, sparkles, sunshine, and love. These materials total value comes out to 1800 gp.

Assembling the body requires a DC 22 Craft (metalworking) check, a DC 22 Knowledge Engineering, or a DC 22 Perform (sing) check, as music reacts with the robot unicorn's spirit of love.

CL 9th; Craft Construct, blur, dream, mirage arcana, mount, rainbow pattern, creator must be non-evil; Price 38,000 gp; Cost 18,100 gp + 1448 XP.

A "lesser robot unicorn" is also available. The only difference is that it Live in Harmony ability can only be used once per day per HD it posseses (7/day). Price 18,000 gp; Cost 8,100 gp + 648 XP.
