Rygoliths[edit]

A race of savage and intelligent beasts. A small group has devoted themselves to stopping the oncoming rampage of their former leader.

Racial Traits
Average Height: 5'7" -- 6'5"
Average Weight: 185 -- 255 lbs.

Ability Scores: +2 Strength, +2 Constitution or Charisma
Size: Medium
Speed: 5 squares
Vision: Darkvision

Languages: Common, Sarrath
Skill Bonuses: +2 Endurance, +2 Intimidate
Encumbered Speed: You move at your normal speed even when it would be normally reduced by armor or a heavy load. Other effects that limit speed (such as difficult terrain or magical effects) affect you normally.
Natural Defenses: You gain a +1 racial bonus to AC. You also gain a +2 bonus to saving throws against poison.
Rygolith Weapon Proficiency: You gain proficiency with all one-handed and two-handed martial weapons with the axe, hammer, and heavy blade keywords.
Stand Your Ground: When an effect forces you to move-- through a push, a pull, or a slide-- you move 1 less square than the effect specifies. This means that an effect that normally pushes, pulls, or slides a target 1 square does not force you to move unless you want to.

In addition, when an attack would knock you prone, you can immediately make a saving throw to avoid being prone.

Fury Within: You can use fury within as an encounter power.
Fury Within
Rygolith Racial Power
Like that of your cousins, you hold a deep desire to unleash the inner beast within you-- carefully calculating your attacks to deal the most damage wherever possible.

Minor Action Personal

Increase the attack bonus to +2 and the damage bonus to 2d8 at 11th level, and a +3 bonus and 3d8 bonus damage at 21st level.

Rygoliths are the moral enemies of the Magi and a potential threat to the civilization. They are a force to be reckoned with. However, a small band of Rygoliths have questioned the powers of their ruthless leader and have even challenged his authority by aiding the Magi in their efforts to reduce the Rygolith’s hold on the civilizations.

Heroic Rygoliths are the pinnacle of the Magi armies and are a critical combat asset to any military force.

Play a Rygolith if you want…

  • To share the same traits as your foes, but defend your beliefs for better or for worse.
  • To use your strength where it is absolutely needed.
  • To be a member of a race that favors the Argonaut, Fighter, and Vanguard classes

Physical Qualities[edit]

Rygoliths are fully accustomed with underground dwellings-- much like Pudgeys-- and like the Pudgeys, the Rygoliths have tough hides. Their skin is also covered with plates of a metallic-like bone. These strange plates are actually naturally occurring carbon fiber-- stronger and lighter than any other metal.
Another unique feature about Rygoliths is their skull gems-- situated upon the center of their heads. This bright gem is actually the life-force of their own self-- a sort of energy crystal that keeps their vitality strong. Without these gems, they lose their vital energies and therefore they become critically weakened. A single skull gem collected from a felled Metal Head or Rygolith is worth up to 100 zn (zeni).
The Rygoliths are the direct descendants of the Metal Heads-- or Raegaliths in sarrath tongue. Their skin tones are pretty much similar-- a muddy indigo-violet rough hide with darker patches every now and then. Some Rygoliths have more of these dark spots than others. Rygoliths have removable head masks, which serve as their natural helmets. Without these helmets, a Rygolith can see in low-light-- with their helmets, they can see in total darkness. Rygoliths normally have light blue, brown, golden or brick red eyes.
A Rygolith’s society is mainly dependent on where they are located. Most Rygoliths under the guidance of the civilization are enlisted in the military and serve as the arm & hammer behind the front lines.
A Rygoliths’ life spans at about 120 years, but some of the eldest members can live to be about 140-150 years. Their long lifespans are due to their instinctual nature that their mindless cousins have acquired. Venerable members are usually too weak to do moderate tasks, but they do move on to become old loremasters full of astounding knowledge.

Playing a Rygolith[edit]

As Rygoliths are enemies of the civilization, they are also a playable race. This provides a unique opportunity for Rygolith allies to talk other rogue rygoliths to join the civilization in the fight against Saekar Kor and his reign. Sometimes, even a good trash-talk could be as interesting as a full-on combat encounter by pitting rygolith allies against rygolith adversaries. In any case, playing as a rygolith has its advantages.

Rygolith Characteristics: Caring, concerned, courageous, defensive, disciplined, ferocious, light-hearted, loyal, passionate, powerful, vengeful

Rygolith Adventurers[edit]

Three sample Rygolith adventurers are described below.

Drak’nav, a rygolith vanguard, is nothing short of a warhammer when it comes to varying situations, such as busting through walls and bringing down tough enemies. His loyalty and service to his allies makes him an incredible asset and a heroic icon that sets the stage for other rygoliths also employed in the military. His tremendous courage is what really sets him apart from the rest of the pack.
Kel’thina, a rygolith argonaut, is a kind-hearted individual and an incredible fighter. Her combination of martial combat and arcane teachings have turned her into an efficient battering ram—bringing the arcane storm to life within herself. She is a good friend and a critical combat asset to her allies.
Or’kavv, a rygolith fighter, is a downright dirty fighter, but he fights for a cause as do any other rygolith. He is a separate soul who offers help to anyone in need of a strong helping hand. He is a mercenary—self-trained and disciplined to where he can think for himself. Of course, he has close friends, and he’s not about taking advantage over them—his disciplined demeanor takes first priority when in battle.
