Searstone[edit]

Searstone
Price: 40,000 gp
Body Slot: Ring
Caster Level: 11th
Aura: Moderate evocation
Activation: Use-activated (continuous)
Weight:

This platinum band is inlaid with a green tourmaline that fumes with an acidic blight. A searstone grants its wearer the following benefits:

  • Resistance to acid 30.
  • All natural weapons (including unarmed strikes) and all manufactured weapons wielded by the wearer benefit from the corrosive burst quality.
  • All enemy creatures attacking or otherwise physically touching the wearer in melee receive 2d6 points of acid damage.
  • The wearer casts spells with the acid descriptor with a +2 enhancement bonus to caster level. These two bonus caster levels ignore a spell's damage cap.

The wearer of a searstone is surrounded by a misty shroud of corrosive miasma in a 10-foot-radius, creating a trail behind that lasts for 1 round before dispersing. Any creature moving through or starting its turn within an area containing a searstone's acidic miasma takes 2d6 points of acid damage and becomes sickened (DC 19 Fortitude save or become nauseated instead). Creatures resistant enough to take no damage do not become sickened.

The miasma is thick enough to make the wearer slightly indistinct, giving him concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance) unless the attacker is within 5 feet. Anything that can disperse an obscuring mist or solid fog can also disperse the searstone's miasma, though it will return on the start of the wearer's next turn.

Prerequisites: Forge Ring, acid fog, acid sheath.
Cost to Create: 20,000 gp, 1,200 EXP, 40 days.
