Stonecutter's Dojo[edit]

"Be like pure solid steel, let your body be one with the material."

The Stonecutter's Dojo is an ancient training area and secluded retreat, which was used by monks of old to obtain the traits of various materials. The difficulty of beating solid slabs of stone, steel and adamantine proved to be too difficult for most students and the dojo was eventually abandoned. But the spirit of the founders is said to still inhabit it, and will grant whoever will seriously train there the boon they themselves discovered.

Lore[edit]

The Stonecutter's Dojo was created by a sect of monks, who believed that by meditating and training with stone they could become hard as stone themselves. The dojo itself is carved inside a mountain, by the unarmed strike of the monks who funded it. It is now abandoned, but the philosophy of the monks is still very much present inside the dojo.

Description[edit]

The Stonecutter's Dojo is built inside a mountain, whose entrance can be accessed via the summit. It is a comfortable dojo inside, carved inside of the stone with nice wooden finish, sleeping quarters and other living areas. There is a large training area, where an honest trainee will spend most of her time attuning her body.

Prerequisite[edit]

In order to benefit from the Stonecutter's Dojo, one must either have a Monk's AC Bonus as an inherent ability or the Masterwork Body feat. She must also bring a slab of the desired material worth a light armor and a light weapon. In addition the trainee must bring 500 gp worth of tributes to the spirit of the dojo, so it can share its secret.

Location Activation[edit]

In order to activate the Stonecutter's Dojo, one must train in it with slabs of the chosen material for one week. The training is extremely intensive, in order to succeed, the trainee must spend at least 100 hours of training by the end of the week. Each day of training, the trainee takes 2d6 + twice the material's hardness in damage.

Recharge[edit]

The Stonecutter's Dojo does not need to recharge. A trainee can benefit from the Stonecutter's Dojo several times, each time overwriting the previous material with the new one. If she does so, she produces a ruined slab of the old material, which is worth half its original value.

Special Ability[edit]

Upon finishing her training, the slab of material is utterly consumed in blue ghostly flame and the trainee catches fire. Once she douses herself up, her body and unarmed strike will count as being made of the chosen material permanently. The body's appearance may change a little bit, so can be its texture or weight, depending on the material.

The bonus granted to the body is as it was light armor, and stacks with any benefits of magical abilities of any armor the trainee wears. The bonuses follow rules as normal, so if both the body and armor's material grant DR or Energy Resistance they overlap.

Duration[edit]

The benefit of the Stonecutter's Dojo is permanent. It can only be changed by the trainee, coming back to the Dojo and changing which material she is 'made of'.

Ability Value[edit]

500 GP + the price of the material applied.
