The Sword of the Firelord is a strange +1 Flaming Greatsword that is currently possessed by a dangerous evil elemental spirit. As a full-round action the wielder of the sword can summon a Fiendish Medium Fire Elemental with a number of HDs equal to the wielder's character level. If the elemental is slain it cannot be re-summoned for 24 hours.
The elemental can be summoned constantly, however each minute of servitude it attempt an opposed Charisma check, although the master may use her Wisdom instead of her Charisma if better, if it succeed it is allowed to act as it please and often turn on it "master". The master can also attempt to re-establish control as a full-round action, attempting the check again. The master may dismiss the elemental as a full-round action, if it was not not under her control she cannot summon it again for 24 hours, as if it was slain.
The Sword is cursed, while it is wielded the wielder count as evil whenever doing so would be disadvantageous. The only exception is that it allow equipment which could only be used by evil characters to be used without penalty by the wielder, such as an unholy weapon. The weapon is also immune to fire damage, recovering lost hit point for each 3 point of fire damage that it would be dealt.
Unlike other magic weapons, the Sword of the Firelord is actually capable of changing vessel. With a 1 hour ritual, the current 'master' of the sword may force it to move into another masterwork non-magical weapon, granting all of the sword's magical ability to the other weapon. This may be done even if the Sword of the Firelord is broken or destroyed.
The Sword of the Firelord is a unique item that cannot be replicated, but is not an artifact and thus may be destroyed or enhanced further as normal.
