Fiend subtype[edit]

I'm just wondering, why can you gain feats with fiend? It doesn't seem to fit the concept of this feat.11:50, July 17, 2010 (UTC)71.21.128.140

Thus far, [Fiend] feats are the general name for outsider-ancestry feats. It's better that than duplicating 20 feats for no reason than to just change the tag. Surgo 12:24, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
That's not the case, Surgo; the [Elemental] feats exist for Elemental-planes Outsiders, and the Army of Demons feat is marked as [Celestial, Fiend, ...]. I'm pretty sure there are a few [Celestial] feats on TGD as well. This feat should properly give access to [Celestial] feats. --Quantumboost 07:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
This thread in particular - http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49848 - has a listing of feats that should be [Celestial, Fiend] from the Tome of Fiends and one or two [Celestial] ones. --Quantumboost 07:58, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Balance point[edit]

Even for a Wizard level feat this is very overpowered. Read what someone could get from being an archon: Darkvision out to 60 feet and low-light vision. Aura of Menace (Su): A righteous aura surrounds archons that fight or get angry. Any hostile creature within a 20-foot radius of an archon must succeed on a Will save to resist its effects. The save DC varies with the type of archon, is Charisma-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus. Those who fail take a –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura. A creature that has resisted or broken the effect cannot be affected again by the same archon’s aura for 24 hours. Immunity to electricity and petrification. +4 racial bonus on saves against poison. Magic Circle against Evil (Su): A magic circle against evil effect always surrounds an archon (caster level equals the archon’s Hit Dice). (The defensive benefits from the circle are not included in an archon’s statistics block.) Teleport (Su): Archons can use greater teleport at will, as the spell (caster level 14th), except that the creature can transport only itself and up to 50 pounds of objects. Tongues (Su): All archons can speak with any creature that has a language, as though using a tongues spell (caster level 14th). This ability is always active.

That is very stong for a first level character. teleport at will? What can't a first level character get past with that?-----Parakee 22:31, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

The problem appears to be entirely with the archon subtype, which I didn't notice granted the at-will teleport. Yikes. None of the other outsider subtypes do that. We'll have to take Archon off the list. Surgo 23:03, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Still even with angel. I find that a good Wizard level feat would give you immunity to an energy. This gives you 2 plus other powers. Imagine the first level fighter being immune to the sorrcers best spells. Thats just sad. --Parakee 23:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
The angel subtype is no better than the devil subtype, which this feat's mirror gives. The remaining problem is really only the Lesser Globe of Invulnerability, so this feat should probably scale up a bit with level. Surgo 23:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Ill get to that later. Justify this.--{| style="background: #FBEC5D; border: 1px solid gray; width:100px; height:25px;"  ! style="background:maroon;"|parakee  ! talk |} 23:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Uh, come again? Surgo 00:09, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
How about: If someone wants to play a shiny orc, shiny elf, shiny -whatever-, they should be able to spend a feat to do so. Yes, this and Infernal Dalliance are really strong feats. However, they aren't gamebreaking (apart from the teleport and Globe of Invulnerability, which seem to be out of the question) You get a grab-bag of abilities and powers and then you're a sparkly critter from here on out. And...immunity to what best spell? Color Spray? Sleep? No, seriously, what best spell? --Genowhirl

Ratings[edit]

This feat smacks of being too strong, even for Very High level. While I don't recall the powers of the latter two subtypes, the Angel subtype has Protective Aura, which is totally inappropriate at level 1. You recognized the power of Archons and shut that out, but Angels have similar issues, and possibly the other two as well. Sadly, this makes Eiji dissaplushie.

Yep, Angel is still too strong. It's that lesser globe, yo.
