It could be a little bit weaker, and the gif shows more reach than this weapon has, but I like this weapon generally and the fact that you used a gif for the illustration in specific.

I like the idea it could see a real twist to a game stile.

I decided to make this to replace my list of chained swords, so I don't clog this wiki with a crapton of almost identical articles. The Dire Reverend 03:38, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Trip[edit]

Can you trip people with it?--ParakeeTalk 12:30, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Yes. You can trip anyone with anything in D&D, as Tripping is a basic combat action.
Do you get bonuses to trip people with it... um, no idea, ask Dire Rev.--Change=Chaos. Period. SC 14:44, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for the long wait on the reply, but I don't think tripping anyone with such an item would be easy or practical, depending on the object attached to the chain. Imagine the look on a DM's face when the player mentions his Greatsword on a chain provides a bonus to a trip attempt. So, for such an item with a broad range of utility, I'd rather keep no bonus to trip, just to make things not over complicated. Maybe I should add something about if your dm says it's okay to add a bonus...
Heck, a lot of my stuff says "Ask your DM about X." The Dire Reverend 09:57, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
Sounds fair, if you have a tripping weapon on a chain, it's still a tripping weapon, giving it an advantage over non-trip weapons. -- Eiji-kun 10:43, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Imagine the devistation...[edit]

...Of a Chained Whip wielded by a character with Improved Whip Proficiency, and Combat Reflexes. A Medium creature now has a 20 foot reach, and anyone trying to get within melee range will have a fun time doing so. The Dire Reverend 22:37, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

...
Are you whipping people with a chain or chaining people with a whip?--Change=Chaos. Period. SC 04:19, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Both. At the same time.--Stryker 11:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Chained Exotic Weapons[edit]

Nowhere does it say "Melee Weapons Only" so what about unusual choices such as Chained Spiked Chain or Chained Dragon Chain (Red Hand of Doom, p. 126) would they also be acceptable (albeit rather unorthodox weapons) OmegaXicor 18:43, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

1. Spiked Chains (and other weapons with the reach property) are still considered melee weapons.
2. I used the example of a chained whip above, so yes.
