Only an hour?[edit]

Not 24 hours? An hour is easy, anyone could use it more or less right away before bedtime. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 06:16, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, only an hour. 24 hours is far too long for such an item to be hogging up a body slot like a ring (which are already likely to get swapped during the day). Just don't forget to put it on. It might be handier in a solo-adventure since you still wouldn't have to wait for the rest of the party or in the case of one guy in the party who has to rest 8 and everyone else is only 4 or less. This just makes "the guy who has to take watch duty for a half-night shift" not get hosed. I mean, two elves could share one ring in a night but two elves could already cover a night's watch anyways. What's the concern here anyhow (before I ramble too much)? --Ganteka Future (talk) 07:32, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
It's not game-breaking bad, but it's still a quite good advantage to have rested casters recovering faster than normal. Most things which affect sleep like that have the 24 hour clause specifically to prevent someone from benefiting from an empty ring slot, but swapping out for the night. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 08:16, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Casters still take 8 hours to recover spells (Note: SRD:Arcane Spells#Rest, SRD:Arcane Spells#Recent Casting Limit/Rest Interruptions and SRD:Divine Spells#Recent Casting Limit). Specifically among that for those who don't want to click: "If the character does not need to sleep for some reason, she still must have 8 hours of restful calm before preparing any spells." -and- "When she prepares spells for the coming day, all the spells she has cast within the last 8 hours count against her daily limit." Was that the main concern then? --Ganteka Future (talk) 17:25, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Touche. My fears, abated. Your face, elated.
And Merry Xmas! -- Eiji-kun (talk) 17:30, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
