On level[edit]

I figured it's equal to Create Water, except you have to provide the water. On the other hand, it's an excellent bucket, and can transport more than water, as long as it's not actively dangerous. I considered, "won't people use this to transport gallons of Black Lotus", but on thought the real problem is "why do you have gallons of black lotus" and not if you choose to deliver it by sponge, bucket, or otherwise. -- Eiji-kun 11:55, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Because I am a Dork...[edit]

This really isn't that harmful. Consider that a small lake can be around 10 billion gallons. I tried optimizing a leadership character to see if they could drain a lake. I got to just over 10,000 gallons a day... Or a million days. 2,738 years.

My DM actually made a magic item that did this. It consumed 100 gallons of water per usage and the DM claimed that over a week, the desert people's small-ish lake (I clarified and it was definitely not a pond) in their oasis city had lost half its water. When we got the item I argued it wasn't feasible. There are 14400 rounds in a day, so 1,440,000 gallons per day if the item is used constantly and a total of 10,080,000 after the week. Stupid DM :P -- it would have taken 2 years with optimal use of that item. --Aarnott 20:14, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

That's comforting to know then. Of course, I've optimized Dust of Dryness into deadly trap weapons, so I figured one might be able to pull the same trickery off with this. -- Eiji-kun 00:05, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Two Small Questions[edit]

How big is the sponge / how much does it inflate? Does "discharged" mean the spell ends and the sponge disappears? --DanielDraco 03:06, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

The sponge is the size of a normal handheld sponge. I've added a bit of text to clarify that it is a normal sponge and not some sort of industrial family sized mega-sponge. You can hold the sponge in one hand without issue. As for inflation, it doesn't (at least not any applicable amount) because magic and outer space.
When the spell is discharged, the spell ends and the sponge disappears. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 00:44, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
