The Entheomancer[edit]

I'm not big into religion.
—Morris, Human Entheomancer, As told to an Indeterminable

The Entheomancer is a man shunned by deities and demons alike. Gods will not answer his prayers, fiends want nothing to do with his soul, and divine spellcasters of any stripe are wary of his abilities. The Entheomancer class is similar in function to the Sword of Righteousness or Wonderworker from the Book of Exalted Deeds, a short prestige class that just adds a few minor goodies, rather than changing your abilities entirely.

Becoming an Entheomancer[edit]

Entheomancers are born, not made. Most are Fighters, Rogues, or Barbarians, but a select few are Monks. Arcane Spellcasters seldom become Entheomancers and Divine Spellcasters can never become Entheomancers

Entry Requirements
Alignment: Any.
Base Attack Bonus: +3
Race: Any
Skills: Knowledge (Planes) 8 Ranks.
Special: Divine Spellcasters of any kind cannot become Entheomancers. The Entheomancer is a character shunned by the Gods from a very young age. If an Entheomancer later takes levels in a Divine Spellcasting Class, he irrevocably loses all Entheomancer Class Abilities.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Entheomancer.

Detect Outsider (Ex): The Entheomancer can Detect Outsiders in the same way that the Paladin can Detect Evil. This ability is usable At-Will.

Divine Spell Resistance (Su): The Entheomancer gains Spell Resistance equal to 10 + HD, except that it only applies to Divine Spells, or the Spells and spell like abilities of outsiders. The Entheomancer can raise or lower this spell resistance as a free action.

Outsider Bane (Su): This ability functions like the Ranger's Favored Enemy, except that it applies against all outsiders rather than a specific type. In addition, one half of the bonus is applied to saving throws vs divine spells and the spells/spell-likes/abilities of outsiders. Finally, instead of dealing bonus weapon damage equal to the bonus, the Entheomancer instead deals an extra 1d4 points of weapon damage to outsiders per point of bonus (Thus a first level Entheomancer deals an extra 2d4 points of damage to Outsiders, while a 3rd level one deals an extra 6d4 points of damage). Against divine spellcasters, the Entheomancer simply gains a +2/+4/+6 bonus to weapon damage rolls. This bonus also applies to all characters who have made pacts with fiends.

Anchoring Smite) (Ex): Once per encounter, the Entheomancer may smite an Outsider or Divine Spellcaster. He adds his charisma modifier to his attack roll (if positive) and deals an extra point of damage per character level to an outsider or divine spellcaster on a successful hit. On a successful hit, an Outsider must make a Will Save DC (10+1/2 Entheomancer's HD + Cha modifier) or come under the effects of a Dimensional Anchor spell (Spell Resistance does not apply) for one minute. At 3rd level, they can perform this ability twice per encounter.

Voidborn (Ex): At 3rd Level, The Entheomancer is immune to all divine divination spells (Or arcane spells cast by someone who has made a pact with fiends), or to divination spells/effects used by outsiders. This also prevents them from speaking to him telepathically.

Ex-Entheomancers[edit]

Should the Entheomancer ever take a level in a Divine Spellcasting Class, he irrevocably loses all Entheomancer Class Abilities.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing an Entheomancer[edit]

Combat: The Entheomancer serves the same role in combat as he did before he became an Entheomancer

Advancement: Most Entheomancers take levels in Barbarian, Rogue, Monk, or Fighter. Some however, take a few levels in Forsaker (3.5e Prestige Class).

Resources: Entheomancers are not an organized group, and very few would know that there are others like them who exist

Entheomancers in the World[edit]

The World will be Free of Extraplanar Interference soon...

Entheomancers fit in the same places in the world as they did before becoming Entheomancers. Some, however, may find themselves a little less.... Religious.

NPC Reactions: As NPC's can't tell an Entheomancer from a hole in the ground, their reactions are based off of their other classes

Entheomancer Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (Planes) can research Entheomancers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

Knowledge (Planes)
DC Result
11 Entheomancers are creatures shunned by Gods and Demons alike.
16 Entheomancers refused a Pact made by an Outsider when they were children.
21 Entheomancers learn combat maneuvars designed to kill Outsiders.
26 Someone with a Check this high can garner information about a specific Entheomancer.
