Xilliadine[edit]

Designer Note: This race was made to emulate and inspired by the very pulp sci-fi concept of space amazons.

Xilliadine are race of spacefearing humanoids who have a strong tendency toward divided tribal society. A xilliadine physically looks much like female humans. However, they tend to be much taller with their skin tone and color being very different. Xilliadine tend to be green or blue colored, from a light teal color to a strong dark blue, with a few being red. Their eyes and hair color are a lot more diverse however and can be of various colors within the same as the human spectrum. They live a similar length of time as humans, however they tend to die early violent deaths. Xilliadines are well-adapted to different gravity, are capable of surviving in the void of space for some time and have potent telekinetic abilities.

Their societies are very hierarchical but also strangely chaotic, with no same tribe with the same organization and ranks. They also like fighting each other, making and breaking alliances with other tribes and races over the course of years and decades. This constant strife makes them resource-hungry, causing a strong tendency toward piracy and looting. Despite this they are capable of long term agreement and alliance, which typically survives until the leader of a particular tribe no longer does.

Despite their divided society, members of the xilliadine are found on all alignments, although they have strong lawful tendencies. Their leaders and warmasters however tend to be on the chaotic side of the spectrum. They tend toward strong xenophobia, but are a lot more accepting of foreign individuals who prove themselves and assimilate into their culture. As a result, sometimes it is possible to see a seemingly random assortment of other races fighting alongside them. Xilliadine have trouble following a leader who they see as weak, but will very rarely turn on their allegiance and promises and are not prone to backstabbing or desertion. Rather, a weak leader will see many of her troops formally renounce their allegiance and leave until they are picked off by a stronger rival, possibly absorbed into their army if not completely wiped out.

Adventuring xilliadines are fairly common. They tend to be younger members of the race attempting to gather power and resources as a mercenary, outcasts from a defeated army, the rare deserter or perhaps a disillusioned youth seeking a better alternative than constant strife.

While the overwhelming majority of xilliadine are female, there exists a few male xilliadine. However they are elusive and what they look like isn’t exactly known. Alternatively if interbreeding with humans occurs, a male xilliadine may be born of such union. These male xilliadine look much like a human male, with the size increase and exotic color of his xilliadine parent. These rare individuals may be prized by their tribe, or treated as mutants. It is unknown why xilliadine are able to breed with humans, with a few scholars hypothesizing that both specie may have originated from a single source far in the past.

Alternate Racial Features[edit]

  • Blaster Adventurer (Ex): Xilladines who spent their life adventuring rather than fighting each other tend to develop interesting weapon skills. These pistol-wielding outcasts are eager to use their natural advantages for spacefaring adventures, but are physically weaker than their warmongering sisters. A xilliadine with this trait gain proficiency with one martial or exotic firearm (or energy weapon) and Weapon Focus with it. This alternate racial class feature replaces both Enhanced Physique and Martial Training.
  • Enhanced Agility (Ex): Some xilliadines are born closer to the size of humans, but gain increased agility as a result. They gain a +2 racial bonus on all Acrobatics checks and Mobility as a bonus feat. Additionally they always treat Acrobatics as a class skill. This alternate racial feature replaces Enhanced Physique.
  • Human Hybrid (Ex): When interbreeding between xilliadine and human occurs, the resulting offspring may be much like a human male or female. These hybrids are often more skilled than most, but lacks the martial discipline of pure xilliadine. Human hybrids gain an extra skill point per level. This alternate racial ability replaces Martial Training.
  • Warlord's Blood (Ex): The largest of the xilliadine are usually the offspring of the powerful long-ruling warlords, who inherent quite a bit of brawn. These offspring gain the Powerful Build racial features. However they lack the telekinetic abilities of a xilliadine and are slower, having a base land speed of 30 feet. This alternate racial ability replaces Natural Telekinesis.
