Dedicated Marksman

A dedicated marksman is a ranger that lose some of her versatility for greater skill at ranged combat, especially when it come to dealing with the denizen of nature.

Class: Ranger

Level: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th

Replaces: 1st Level Favored Enemy, Animal Companion, Combat Style

Benefit: A dedicated marksman receive the following class features:

Sharpshooter: A 1st level dedicated marksman gain Sharpshooter as a bonus feat, even if she does not meet the prerequisites.

Spotting Expertise: A dedicated marksman must be extremely good at spotting, adding her half her ranger class level on Spot and Listen checks. Additionally she only take a -1 penalty to Spot checks per 50 ft of distance. Likewise Listen checks only increase the DC by +1 per 50 ft of distance.

Ranged Combat Specialization: A 2nd level dedicated marksman choose between the flurry or sniper specialty.

  • Flurry: The ranger gain flurry of blow (as a Monk) except it can only be used with ranged weapon instead of unarmed attack and special monk weapon. This does not stack with rapid shot.

Additionally she must choose between bow & arrow, crossbow or thrown weapon. She gain Weapon Focus with the chosen set of weapon and the associated benefit:

  • Bow & Arrow: The dedicated marksman gain Gangsta Archery as a bonus feat. Additionally using arrows in melee no longer count as using an improvised weapon.
  • Crossbow: The dedicated marksman gain Rapid Reload as a bonus feat. Additionally you no longer take penalty from using a crossbow one-handed.

Focused Aim: A 4th level dedicated marksman may take a standard action to focus her aim on a single target, she gain competence bonus to attack roll against that creature equal to twice her class level, automatically bypass it damage reduction and roll twice to bypass concealment (taking the better result).

Improved Ranged Combat Specialization: At 6th level the dedicated marksman abilities with ranged weapon improve, she gain Aim Through Cloud and Woodland ArcherRotW as bonus feats even if she does not meet the prerequisites.
