Well Schrodinger, your damned familiar experiments have escaped. At least they were just housecats, it would be terrible if you were working on something dangerous like tigers are something, ahahahaha.... why are you looking at me like that? Wha... you didn't...

The creation of the quantum cat lead to the development of seeing of this new ability could be done in many other breeds. Alas some poor fool thought it a good idea to mix the formula with tigers, only to watch in horror as they quantum tunneled through the walls and out to freedom. Now, wild quantum tigers can be found roaming the wilderness, identified only by their difficulty in hitting and the speed which they can flicker around the battlefield.

These great cats are massive and powerful, and even more dangerous given their ability to get into places barred off from them.

Combat[edit]

Like normal tigers, quantum tigers are ambush predators. They pop out of tall grass running and pouncing for massive damage, hoping to scare off the herd abandoning their ally to being a meal. It will attack any creature it thinks it could take down in a fight.

Blink Step (Su): The quantum tiger has learned how to quantum tunnel through space and time with no more difficulty than moving. As a move action the quantum tiger can teleport anywhere up to its movement speed. This does not provoke attacks of opportunity. In addition as a standard action it can duplicate the effects of dimension door. Both these abilities only take along the tiger and any creatures or objects it is capable of carrying as a light load.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a quantum tiger must hit with a claw or bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can rake.

Pounce (Ex): If a quantum tiger charges a foe, it can make a full attack, including two rake attacks.

Rake (Ex): Attack bonus +13 melee, damage 1d8+4.

Half-Dead (Ex): The quantum tiger is both alive and dead at the same time. It counts as either being alive or undead whenever it is most beneficial to it. In addition, it uses d12s for HD, though it still retains its constitution to its hp. If the quantum tiger is killed, there is a 50% chance it will respawn in 1d10 minutes or until nobody is observing the remains, whichever comes last.

Out of Sight Out of Mind (Ex): Lose track of a quantum tiger and it might not really be there. Quantum tiger have Hide in Plain Sight in any shadows, like a shadowdancer. If a quantum tiger remains hidden for at least 3 rounds, then at the end of its third round it can choose not to be there at all. Where did the quantum tiger go? No one is certain, but it manages to duplicate the effect of teleport (self only) whenever it does, though it can only teleport to another location which is currently not being observed.

Quantum Creature (Ex): The quantum tiger is only half there. Quantum Tigers benefit from a 50% miss chance as if under blink, which applies to both physical and magical attacks. Force effects hit it normally, but it is not blinking on any known plane and has no special benefits or weaknesses against ethereal creatures. It does not suffer a miss chance on its own attacks.

Wraithfang (Su): The quantum tunneling of a quantum tiger can be used offensively as well. Once per round as a free action, one of its attacks can be done as a touch attack instead by tunneling past the creatures defenses.

Skills: Quantum Tigers have a +4 racial bonus on Balance, Hide, and Move Silently checks. *In areas of tall grass or heavy undergrowth, the Hide bonus improves to +8.

Companion[edit]

A quantum tiger can be selected as a paladin's mount or animal companion of 13th Level or Higher (Level –12).
