Excavator's Outfit[edit]

Having its roots in the equipments of the legendary wayfarer, archaeologist and all-round daredevil explorer Jodiana Earhart-Inns, these sets of equipment have been reproduced by adventurer's guilds across the known world to help its members go boldly where no man or woman has gone before.

  1. If the character has some help, cut this time in half. A single character doing nothing else can help one or two adjacent characters. Two characters can't help each other don armor at the same time.

A true adventurer is always prepared, and the excavator's outfit perfectly mirrors that pioneering mentality. At its core, the excavator's armor consists of a sturdy leather jacket over a comfortable and lightweight protective vest and sturdy thatched leather pants and boots. The jacket and utility belt are outfitted with several pouches in which a lot of equipment can be safely stored. Of course, the outfit is hardly complete without a sturdy akubra. The excavator's outfit is always masterwork; price and benefits are subsumed in the above statistics.

The excavator's outfit provides the following benefits when worn, on top of its general protective capabilities:

  • An excavator's outfit counts as a masterwork skill tool for the following skills: Appraise, Disable Device, Search and Use Magic Device. You gain a rogue's Trapfinding ability, or if you are already a rogue, you gain an additional +2 bonus to any checks involving the finding of traps.
  • The outfit's AC bonus is doubled against traps, collapses and natural hazards.
  • The excavator's outfit incorporates all the gear and benefits of a journeyman field equipment pack, as well as a masterwork-quality hammer and chisel. You gain the dwarf's Stonecunning ability, the bonus of which also extends to any checks involving prospecting ores, gems and other precious materials. You may treat your load as 50 pounds lighter for the sake of carrying capacity.
  • When wearing the outfit, your intrepid wayfarer nature becomes known to onlookers. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to all Charisma-based checks involving members of the adventurer's guild or similar institutions, and from such sources you can obtain a 10% discount on the following types of equipment: adventuring gear, alchemical items, potions, oils, tools and skill kits.
