"Smith", the Spymaster[edit]

A spymaster so good at concealing his identity he forgot himself.

Level: 1st

Binding DC: 16

Special Requirement: Yes

Legend[edit]

There was once a master spy for a small nation embroiled in several cold wars. Core among this spy's skills was his ability to disguise himself completely and totally. He went on a great many successful missions, and was a great service to his country.

At a certain point in his career, he found he would have to go on a mission in a university of wizards, so he learned (or created) a technique that allowed him to change his thoughts to those of his disguise while still acting on his orders.

The mission was successful, but as he was exfiltrating, he was discovered and chased. In order to get away, he quickly attempted to disguise himself as many different people, real and imagined, but that tactic failed, so he attempted to hide as objects, trees, rocks and so on. That tactic was more successful, but still failed.

But the spymaster was a clever man and had the idea to hide as nothing. And so he donned his most successful disguise. However, in so accurately pretending to be nothing, he removed himself from reality.

Special summoning[edit]

Must wear some kind of disguise. A simple large hood or fake moustache will suffice, but a comprehensive disguise that hides your age, race, gender, or nationality gives you a +2 to your Binding check.

Manifestation[edit]

A nearby person (or sufficiently large object) adjusts their posture and removes layer after layer of disguises until nothing is left.

Sign[edit]

The Binder appears more generic. Extreme features are made closer to baseline, notable features less so, and so on.

Influence[edit]

The Binder will not introduce themself with their true identity. They must always have some form of disguise, even if only social (such as merely using a different name).

Granted Abilities[edit]

Master of Disguises[edit]

By spending 1 minute, the Binder may duplicate disguise self as an extraordinary effect. Upon reaching Binder level 7, the Binder may also spend 10 minutes to duplicate alter self as an extraordinary effect.

Quick Change[edit]

You gain the benefits of the Disguise in Plain Sight feat.

Change of Minds[edit]

The Binder can change their minds as easily as most can change their clothes. As the same amount of time as a Disguise check, the Binder may choose to pretend to have whatever alignment they wish. All effects treat them as if this were their actual alignment. This is an extraordinary effect.

Additionally, the Binder may use Thought Trick at will. After the Binder uses Thought Trick, they must wait 5 rounds before they may use it again. Upon reaching Binder level 7, they gain the benefits of the Mental Gymnastics feat and no longer have a cooldown on their use of Thought Trick.

Nothing to See Here[edit]

The Binder is under the effects of nondetection (as the spell). This is an extraordinary effect.
