A grotesque sentient pile of fat, its slippery surface bubbles with small mouth-like organs.
Living fat taking the form of an ooze, the adiporba is a mindless hunter that is very durable against bludgeoning strikes. It hunts using a sort of heat sense, though it lacks true eyes.
Combat[edit]
While not possessing eyes, thermal vision can clue it into targets from ranges farther than its blindsight. In these cases it turns into a ball and uses rollout to close distance rapidly and overrun its targets. Beyond this, its tactics are simple and direct.
Adipose Transfer (Su): If an adiporba grapples or engulfs a target, they are subject to this ability which sucks the fat out of its target and adds it to the adiporba's own. On a failed Fortitude save the target takes 1d4 points of Constitution damage. The adiporba gains the target's HD as temporary hp, +1 attack, saves, and natural armor, and visibly expands. For every 8 HD worth it has consumed, it grows a size category gaining the associated bonuses and penalties for changing size. When it hits 16 HD consumed, it returns to normal size and splits off a second copy of itself with the same hp, to a minimum of 1/2 its normal hp. In this way it reproduces. The save DC is Constitution based.
Engulf (Ex): The adiporba can simply mow down Large or smaller creatures as a standard action. It cannot make a slam attack during a round in which it engulfs. The adiporba merely has to move over the opponents (or via Rollout), affecting as many as it can cover. Opponents can make opportunity attacks against the adiporba, but if they do so, they are not entitled to a saving throw. Those who do not attempt attacks of opportunity must succeed on a DC 24 Reflex save or be engulfed; on a success, they are pushed back or aside (opponent’s choice) as the adiporba moves forward. Engulfed creatures are subject to the adiporba's adipose transfer and slam damage, and are considered to be grappled and trapped within its body. The save DC is Strength-based.
Ooze Traits: As oozes, the adiporba has immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning. It is immune to critical hits and flanking. It is also blind (but see thermal vision) and mindless.
Rollout (Ex): The adiporba can assume a perfectly round form for which to roll forward at great speed. Using this is a full round action, in which it can move forward in a straight line up to four times its normal speed (80 ft) and overrun (and subsequently engulf) anyone in the way.
Thermal Vision (Ex): While the adiporba has no eyes, its surface is a giant sensor for infrared radiation. It can "see" heat that is different from the ambient temperature, and thus can determine the square a creature is in as far as one could see normally. This goes through the effect of darkness, including most magical darkness, but is blocked by gaseous or physical obstructions more than 5 ft thick unless it is abnormally (that is dangerously) hot or cold. Creatures such as undead, constructs, and cold blooded beings are effectively invisible to this ability. The adiporba retains its immunity to blinding by light unless the effect also deals fire damage as part of it.
