5e Spell Alwin's Arcane Virus
4th-level necromancy
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (20-ft cone)
Components: S, M (a tuft of rat fur and a bit of your own saliva)
Duration: Until dispelled
Casters: Artificer, Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard

As you hold your hands together, Necromantic energy sprays out from your fingertips. Each creature in a 20-foot cone takes 2d8 necrotic damage and must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature that is immune to disease automatically succeeds. Upon a successful save, a creature is unaffected from any further effects. Upon a failed save, they become infected by a magical virus. Randomly select one 1st level spell they have prepared or know. The creature must keep that spell prepared at all times. In addition, whenever they cast that spell they must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. Upon a failure, the creature loses as many hit dice as they missed the DC by (for example, if their saving throw was a 12, they would lose 3 hit dice). If the creature does not have enough hit dice to lose, they lose the rest of their hit dice and gain a level of Constitution. These hit dice and exhaustion levels cannot be regained and removed, respectively, from a long rest until a creature is completely cleansed. In addition, another spell they have prepared/know of equal or lesser level must be randomly selected. This spell is now infected as well, and suffers all the same conditions.

This condition is considered a disease. Any spell/ability that removes one disease, such as lesser restoration, can cleanse one infected spell. dispel magic will also have this effect. Any spell that removes all diseases, such as heal, will completely cleanse a creature. wish will also have this effect.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th. In addition, the level of spell slot that can be infected goes up by one for each slot level above 4th. For example, casting this spell at 5th level infects spells of 2nd level and lower.
