Blackmoss[edit]

Typically found growing on the shadier side of willow trees near rivers and swamps, this dark purplish-to-black moss is light weight and resilient, becoming quite fluffy and spongelike when dry.

Blackmoss can be harvested for use as a raw alchemical ingredient, but it also makes a fair natural insulating material for its relative low weight. The spore-free moss alone is worth 20 gp per pound and is sold as a commodity in certain markets or apothecary shops.

The spores however, are mildly toxic, resulting in a state of relaxed euphoria accompanied by harmless, pleasant hallucinations. Once the spores are wrung out, the moss is otherwise safe and may be used for other purposes, such as pillow stuffing, scratch-free abrasive clumps, bird nesting material and alchemy, to name a few.

Table: Blackmoss Spores
Poison Type Initial Damage Secondary Damage Base Price
Blackmoss Spores Inhaled DC 10 Mild Euphoric Hallucinations Mild Euphoric Hallucinations for 1 hour 10 gp

Mild Euphoric Hallucinations: A creature suffering mild euphoric hallucinations takes a –2 penalty to perceptive skills (Listen, Search and Spot) and a –2 penalty to Initiative rolls, but gains a +1 bonus on saves against effects that cause morale penalties and fear. Pleasant colors, sounds and patterns dance about in the creature's mind, which pose a distraction.
