The final word of the incantation hung in the air like the ringing of clashing swords, and the witch released her grip on the rusted, broken dagger. It floated in the air before her, and from the broken blade poured dozens of ghostly warriors, each visible as a misty, screaming visage behind the spectral weapon they wield. As the deluge of spirits petered out, she snatched the dagger from the air and pointed it at her enemy - With a battlecry, one of the warriors bellowed and flew, spear-first, into her foe's chest.
You call forth long-dead warriors to protect you. They swirl around you in a misty storm of weapons and war-faces, at a distance of 10 feet.
When you cast this spell, you can designate any number of creatures you can see to be unaffected by it. An affected creature’s speed is halved in the area, and when the creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 3d6 points of magical Piercing, Slashing, or Bludgeoning damage (Your choice); On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
Each round while the spell persists, you can use your bonus action to command one of the warriors to fly forth and attack a target within 30ft of you, as a ranged spell attack. On a successful hit, the target takes 3d6 points of magical Piercing, Slashing, or Bludgeoning damage (Your choice). When you command a spirit to attack in this way, it is released of its servitude, and the remaining duration of the spell is reduced by 1 round.
Finally, when you are attacked, or forced to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw, while this spell persists, you can use your reaction to command one of the spirits to sacrifice itself to protect you. Roll 1d6, and add the result to your AC against that attack, or to your Strength or Dexterity saving throw against the triggering effect. When you command a spirit to protect you in this way, it is released of its servitude, and the remaining duration of the spell is reduced by 1 round.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
