A burst weapon enables its wielder to strike their foes with superhuman force. This quality can only be added to bludgeoning weapons. The sheer impact force contained within a burst weapon makes it especially devastating against most objects and constructs. Objects and creatures fashioned from steel or forms of mineral matter like stone or crystal can be critically hit with a burst hammer regardless of creature type or immunity to critical hits they might possess.
Furthermore, as a standard action the wielder of a burst weapon may use it to perform a burst attack. Charging the weapon's striking face with magically compressed kinetic energy, the power is released much like a shaped charge on impact with a sufficiently solid creature or object, dealing triple damage to unattended objects with a hardness higher than 5. A creature hit by a burst attack takes damage as normal and is effectively bull rushed with a bonus to the wielder's opposed check equal to the weapon's base enhancement bonus. If the wielder uses the Power Attack option in combination with this attack, he gains the penalty to attack he took as a bonus to the bull rush check. Any creature so moved is blasted back 5 feet for every 5 points by which the wielder's check result beats the defender's check result, and dealt an additional 2d6 points of damage for every 5 feet traveled. A creature moved by this ability must make a Reflex save (DC 10 + ½ bab + the wielder's Strength bonus) or fall prone at the end of this movement.
Finally, as a result of the barely contained energies inherent in the burst quality, if a sunder attempt deals damage to a burst weapon, the sundering weapon is dealt the same amount of damage.
