As you cast this spell, you conjure a lance of holy energy from the sky. You make a melee attack roll against all creatures within a 5-ft diameter 40-ft high cylinder, using your caster level plus your key spellcasting ability modifier for the purpose of calculating the attack roll modifier and dealing 4d6 points of damage on a successful hit. Half the damage is magical piercing, but the other half results directly from divine power and is therefore not subject to damage reduction. The damage is good-aligned for the purposes of bypassing damage reduction and regeneration.
You create an additional column at caster level 7th and every 4 caster levels thereafter. The columns cannot be made to overlap.
