This rough, angular mask has been made to show prestige and hide identity.
The cult leader's mask is made to show the importance of the leader of a group while also concealing their identity easily. The masks are often made of metal or wood and decorated or painted according to the individual cult's needs. They don't have straps, and when placed on the face, hold tightly there. It takes a standard action command to remove the mask. Other than posing as a physical barrier, they do nothing to disguise the wearer. If a creature dies while wearing it, the mask immediately falls off.
The masks are only mildly cursed. When speaking to anyone outside the cult the mask was made for, the wearer suffers a –2 penalty on Diplomacy and Charisma checks.
Particularly affluent mask owners may have theirs made from more exotic materials or adorned with expensive embellishments.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, arcane lock.
