You fire your eldritch blast as a swarm of needles, making it all but impossible to avoid. When using this invocation you cover a 5-ft square in needles, dealing your eldritch blast damage to all creatures occupying that square. The needles persist for a moment, leaving the square difficult terrain for that time and covered in caltrops for 1 round. The caltrops deal magic damage and any creature damaged by the caltrops suffer the effect of the blast’s essence.
However your eldritch blast damage dice are reduced to d4s, or by one category, whichever is lower.
