Fungiwood[edit]
A wood-like substance created by chemically treating fungi harvested from large mushrooms. Fungiwood has a hard outer 'shell' and a relatively soft interior, making it a reliable material. Fungiwood can be crafted into any armor, shield or weapons normally made of wood. Any item made of fungiwood weigh half as much as a normal item of it kind. While fungiwood has no special effect on its own, certain variants of it do.
While 'dead', some fungiwood can be treated in such a way that they retain some qualities of the mushroom they were made from. This fungiwood comes in variants, 'luminescent fungiwood' and 'sporewood'. Luminescent fungiwood is made from bioluminescent mushroom, and thus glows like a torch except its pleasant light does not trigger light sensitivity or light blindness. A foe struck by a luminescent fungiwood weapon is outline as per faerie fire for 1 round.
A more dangerous version of fungiwood is known as 'sporewood' and as its name suggests, still produces spores. The spores contained in sporewood causes itching to the unprotected and rapidly decompose corpses. Because of its cavernous density, sporewood items cannot be made into anything except a shield or weapon. The wielder of a sporewood is constantly under a itching curse unless they are of the construct, plant or undead type. Similarly a non-plant living creature struck by a sporewood weapon will be under the effect of a itching curse for 1 round. A corporeal undead struck by a sporewood weapon will start to rapidly decompose, losing 1d4 hit points immediately and 1 hit point the next round for each successful hit. A corporeal undead wielder of sporewood loses 1 hit point every round of contact with the weapon.
Fungiwood has 9 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 5.
