Your body shines like refined gold reflecting sunlight, and for an instant you become immensely resilient to any form of attack.
When activated, your body becomes like hewn from radiant gold, conferring intense defensive ability, but only for an instant. The golden body spell can be activated mentally by girding one's body against an incoming attack or effect, or as a boost to an attack or action you take.
- Defensive Activation: When activated in defense against an incoming attack or effect, golden body flat out ignores the first 10 points of damage from the attack or effect, plus an additional 3 points per caster level regardless of the damage types (max 40). You gain a +10 bonus to saves and checks made to resist being moved, stunned, staggered, killed or otherwise destroyed outright by the attack or effect, and you won't automatically fail these saving throws on a natural 1. If the golden body negates all the damage of the attack or effect, any ancillary effects the attack would cause upon dealing damage, such as paralyzing or inflicting poison, are also negated.
- Offensive Activation: When activated to bolster an attack action or special attack, you gain the Defensive Activation effects against the first hazard you encounter as a consequence of performing the attack. Possible hazards include readied actions or attacks of opportunity provoked by making the attack itself (example: Robilar's Gambit), as well as effects that occur as a result of attacking such as taking damage from a fire shield. An attack or action enhanced by golden body grants you a +10 bonus to any special combat options such as grapple, bull rush, overrun or trip made as part of the attack, and furthermore adds your caster level to the damage roll.
- Movement Activation: When activated during movement, you gain the Defensive Activation effects against the first hazard you encounter as a result of moving. Possible hazards include a trap sprung during movement, passing through a damage dealing barrier such as a wall of fire, or provoking an attack of opportunity provoked by movement. Activating golden body during movement confers a +10 bonus to any Strength based skill checks and to Concentration for the remainder of your turn, and you ignore all penalties for difficult terrain for one round.
