Graveproof Balm[edit]

This strange mixture is composed of powdered bones, grave dirt, preserving oils, soap made from human fat and unguent of timelessness. It has a very mild fragrance, soap-like consistency and spread over the body easily. It leaves little to no residue or residual odor, but after being applied leaves a slight numbness of the skin that lasts for about a day.

This alchemical mixture is used to preserve corpses as they transcend into undeath. A pound of the soap can be used to wash a zombie before creation, double this amount for each size category above medium the zombie is and halves for each category below medium it is. Doing so causes the zombie to appear as it did in life, although not act as such. This allies the zombie to be disguised as its living counterpart at no penalty.

Its most sought out use is in the creation of intelligent undead, allowing them to retain their sensitivity through undeath. To be useful the would-be-undead must be washed with the alchemical mixture thoroughly, typically once per day or week. At least one pound of graveproof balm must be used for each HD the recipient has, after which her skin becomes imbued and preserved with its preserving effect. If the recipient dies, her body is automatically preserved as per gentle repose for a year. If she is raised as a undead in this period, she gain the Sensitive Corpse feat as a bonus feat.

Craft (Alchemy) DC 25. Market Price 250 gp per pound.
