The dyes produced from the lozsop had been used by local peoples for centuries. Its leaves could produces dyes of yellow and green, browns and tans from its bark and pulp, pinks, oranges, corals, reds and magentas from the flowers, blues and indigoes from the peels and deep purples from the fruit's pulp. Even more colors could be produced from the plant with aging, acids, salts and combinations of parts and dying time. The resultant dyes were vibrant and long lasting. However, competition of industry and trading coupled with several seasons of rough drought pushed the lozsop nearly to destruction, taking decades to recover. Conservation and trade ended up saving the plant, as it spread through knowledge of its cultivation and usage. A good lozsop harvest is thought to be a good omen for the coming season. Lozsop tarts are a favorite of bountiful harvest holidays, if one doesn't mind a mouth dyed purple for hours.
Taking a starter dye from the lozsop, a shrub native to subtropical areas with sandy soil, hair dye is produced in the desired color. The dye, when used, dyes the hair permanently after setting for 30 minutes. The dye effect on hair is considered instantaneous, though a permanent magical effect remains in place on the target causing new hair to be grown in the dye's color, which can be dispelled.
Hair dye can be produced in batches of 20 uses at a time with no increase in the crafting time.
