The witch pointed as she ran and spoke a rhyme in an ancient language. Suddenly, the warrior chasing her tripped, and a nearby bookshelf fell on him.

Choose one target you can see within range. That target must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failure, the target suffers 1d12 points of damage as a randomly determined event of horrible luck befalls them; The type of damage is determined by the nature of the event. This can be any manner of effect - A random shock from static, a nearby vent spewing poisoned gas, a rock or tile falling on them from the ceiling, tripping over their own weapon, a sudden migraine, or etc. If the target rolls a natural 1 on their saving throw, they also fall prone.

If the DM wishes to roll to determine the type of damage randomly, they can roll 2d20 and consult the Jinx Random Damage Types table below.

At Higher Levels. At 5th level, the damage dealt to the target on a failed save increases to 2d12. It increases again to 3d12 at 11th level, and 4d12 at 17th level.
