Prototype Laser Weapon[edit]
A Prototype laser weapon is an energy weapon, based on conventional firearm or even crossbows.
The prototype laser weapon item template can be added to any simple or martial crossbow or firearm. It alters the weapon from a ballistic weapon to an energy-based weapon. These weapons are not properly designed as futuristic weapons, rather being based on conventional weapons.
Requirements[edit]
The creator of a prototype laser weapon item must have at least 8 ranks in Craft [Technology].
Prototype Laser Weapon Weapons[edit]
Cost: 1,500 gp
Affinities: None.
Special: A prototype laser weapon is energy-based rather than a ballistic weapon, altering it ammunition to energy cells. The weapon's ammunition capacity and reload are unaltered. A prototype laser weapon become an exotic weapon, requiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat with the weapon to wield without penalties. A prototype laser weapon still gain all benefits of any feats or ability which affect the base weapon, such as Weapon Focus.
A prototype laser weapon deals typeless damage, except it is still reduced by DR/-. If a prototype laser weapon attack misses the target's AC, but hits the target's touch AC it still deals it's weapon damage to the target, without any other damage from other sources added to the damage roll.
