Rust Hammer[edit]

This hammer is pitted and rusted. Unintelligible runes mark its sides. The hard wood and leather wrappings of the handle otherwise appear strong, albeit worn.

Sources dispute the origins of the rust hammer. Some scholars point to one of the weapon's resting places as a clue, indicating that the fey shrine where it was set alludes to it being a cursed fey artifact used to defend against encroaching technology. The weapon is recorded as having been used in a campaign against the Witchqueen of Barrowkraw Keep, destroying her iron-walled fortifications and gaining entry to her sanctum. It is thought the weapon always appeared rusty.

The rust hammer is a +3 warhammer that functions as a Bane weapon against all metal creatures. It deals maximum weapon damage against metallic objects.

If used to strike a metallic object, that object must make a Fortitude save (DC 22) or lose all magical and masterwork properties as well as have its Hardness reduced to 2 if higher.

So long as the object isn't broken, the item can be restored with an appropriate Craft check (at the same DC to craft the item) and 1/10th the item's base cost to craft, taking 8 hours to do so.
