Same Progression Stacking[edit]

Sometimes a character ends up with racial hit dice, a base class, a short prestige class and maybe even another base class, causing base attack bonus and saving throws to have numbers outside of the expected value for their level. This has always been an odd quirk of the system. This rule aims to normalize those values just a bit without getting particularly complex.

The Rule[edit]

Base attack bonuses and save progressions that are the same progressions from different hit dice sources stack as if from the same source.

Example: Grimshaw has 1 level in rogue (Moderate base attack bonus, Poor Fortitude and Will, Good Reflex) and 1 level in bard (Moderate base attack bonus, Poor Fortitude, Good Reflex and Will), so he stacks the base attack bonuses, Reflex and Fortitude saves from these two classes. He counts as 2nd level in Moderate base attack bonus (a +1), Poor in Fortitude (+0) and Good in Reflex (+3).
