This magic item is a tapered piece of faceted, polished crystal.
A Scribe's Prism is a magical crystal the utilizes basic magic to function as a writing or drawing tool. It can be used be anyone who knows how, and can write in ink of any color desired, on any solid surface, wihtout harming the surface. This writing acts in all respects like the writing created by an Arcane Mark spell, with the exception that it isn't limited to six characters.
Some casters modify their Scribe's Prisms to leave behind glowing ink (Adding Faerie Fire or Light to the needed spells and 75gp to the base price; The ink sheds dim illumination in its square), or ink that burns a certain type creature by touch (As the Bane weapon enhancement; The creature takes the damage each round it touches the writing, DC 10 Fort save for half).
Some Scribe's Prisms are used as the base item for the creation of a wand that contains a writing-based spell, such as Explosive Runes or Sepia Snake Sigil, thus causing the wand to have the additional function of the Prism.
