Origin[edit]

When the first blood moon rose, a woman was born a vampire. She was discriminated her entire life, and was nearly killed several hundred times. She was forced to live in the forest, company to only animal. On the second blood moon, many thousand years later, she was embraced by the moon's light, and it took her into the heavens, where she is now.

Description[edit]

A beautiful vampiric woman, with black hair and red eyes. She's taller than most gods, and she wears a long white cloak, which covers her face.

Dogma[edit]

She wishes for believers to follow the Scriptures of the Moon, which state the following;

You shall live by night.

You shall live with blood.

You shall fight for Selene.

You shall fight for freedom.

You shall not live by the sun.

You shall not live with man.

You shall not fight nature.

You shall not be commanded by any, save Selene and thyself.

You shall follow your own path, and nobody else's.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Clergy is almost entirely made up of vampires, who keep their faces and identities hidden. They live in or near the temples, and are only allowed to leave in an emergency. Temples are adorned with symbols of Selene, and are only opened during the dark hours. All temples come with a large slylight, which closes during the day, and opens at night. Anybody is free to enter any temple, so long as they don't follow a god(dess) of the sun. Few Temples exist, as most are destroyed by Paladins, Clerics, and Clergy of other gods.

Full Moon Temple[edit]

The largest Temple to Selene, as well as the most obscure, is Full Moon Temple. It only appears during the full moon, and is several times larger than any human-built temples, to any deity. It has been in existence since the third blood moon, and has the oldest clergy inside, always attending it. It is far more decorated than any other temple, and has several shrines inside, each made for a specific Practice. The physical location of the Temple is always changing, moving where the moon moves, and taking everything inside with it.

Practices[edit]

Selene- Or perhaps one of the first Nightwalkers- created a number of ways to honor and protect Selene. Many of these practices are still in use today, alongside several other practices added in over time.

Benefaction of Blood[edit]

A practice nearly every temple and shrine adopts is the Benefaction of Blood, which is performed by offering Selene the creature you've killed, draining the blood(If you haven't done so already), then burning the body on the shrine to Selene. It is said that if Selene gets the sacrifice, there will be no ashes.

A more extreme variation is to offer up living beings, in particular those who worship a God(dess) of either the Sun or Life. It is conducted in largely the same way, save that you don't kill them until their blood is drained, and they're already on fire.

Moon's Bulwark[edit]

A simple practice of all Nightwalkers is to keep the Shrine or Temple clean, open, and safe. To protect the Shrine is to protect Selene herself.

Dark Ritae[edit]

Dark Ritae are a series of magical rituals Nightwalkers perform for various reasons, and for various effects. A common Ritae performed is "Rise the Blood Moon," in which participants offer the blood of Daywalkers to Selene to gain her favor in combat. Another Ritae performed by many is "Behold the Night," where Nightwalkers stay silent in prayer from Moon up to Moon down, to give their love and respect to the Goddess.

War Against the Sun[edit]

The most extreme practice commonly used, participants meet together on a full moon, then hunt down all Daywalkers within miles. They burn down Temples dedicated to God(dess)s of Light, Sun, Order, and Life, as well as any other Daywalkers who actively oppose Selene.

Some terms used:

Nightwalker is the word Followers of Selene use to describe themselves.

Daywalker has 2 meanings; Either a living being who doesn't follow Selene, or more commonly, someone who actively opposes Selene or her Nightwalkers.
