Very handy for those who rely on metal equipment, all affected metal objects have their hardness doubled (in the case of objects whose hardness is measured by thickness, double the value per unit of thickness). This increase of hardness cannot stack with itself, but can stack with other sources that increase its value. These objects also become rustproof, unable to be rusted even by magical effects that induce such conditions. On metallic creatures, the spell functions differently, healing them 10 points of damage per caster level and bestowing any additional healing as temporary hit points in addition to the aforementioned rustproofing effect. If used on naturally occurring metals, this spell's effect is permanent (only the rustproofing for creatures); if used on metal created by another effect, the effect of this spell expires when the other one does.
