Spellbind
Classes: Occultist Savant
Chakra: Crown, Heart, Soul, Totem
Saving Throw: None

You've just cast Divine Power, and the might of your deity pulses through you, granting you the prowess of a warrior. However, you don't want to lose this power anytime soon, so you call upon the latent reserves of energy within yourself, blue wisps of energy swirling languidly around you as you focus for several long minutes. When you're done, the soft glow that suffused your body because of the spell is tinted a gentle blue, and you know with all that you are that this power will not fail you.

Shaping this Soulmeld creates an empty slot into which you may Bind a single spell. First you must cast the spell, which can be any spell you know, with the following limitations:

  • It must be able to target you (Target either You or Creature Touched, such as Divine Power or Barkskin)
  • Must be of 6th level or lower
  • Must have a duration longer than Instantaneous
  • Cannot have any metamagic attached to it.

Once the spell is cast, you must spend a number of rounds equal to 1 + the spell's level. During this time, if you are interrupted, you must make a Concentration check (DC 15 + The level of the spell) or the process ends prematurely, and must be begun again. However, once you succeed, the spell becomes locked within the Soulmeld, lasting a number of rounds equal to the spell's level. However, if the Meldshaper invests a number of Essentia into the soulmeld equal to the spell's level, then the spell lasts as long as that amount of Essentia remains invested in the soulmeld (NOTE: The maximum Essentia for this soulmeld ignores the normal limits, the max being 6 rather than being determined by level). If the Essentia invested in this soulmeld drops below the number required to maintain the spell, then the spell ends at the end of the Meldshaper's turn that round.

If the Essentia invested in the soulmeld is above the minimum, each additional point increases the DC for caster level checks made to dispel, unshape or otherwise interfere with either the spell or the soulmeld by 2.

The final limitation is that while a spell is Bound inside this Soulmeld, it prevents the character using this Soulmeld from using that spell again for any reason, even if the Meldshaper was casting a Touch spell on another. For example, if an Occultist Savant used Barkskin on himself and then Bound it to this Soulmeld, he couldn't cast Barkskin on his allies. However, any previous castings of Barkskin do not immediately end, instead lasting their full duration as normal.

Chakra Bind (Crown)

The number of Essentia needed to maintain the spell is reduced by 1 per 5 Meldshaper levels.

Chakra Bind (Heart)

The spell's bonuses, if any, are increased by half, as if Empowered; Thus Mage Armor's armor bonus would increase to +6 rather than +4; Bull's Strength would grant a +6 bonus to Strength, and etc.

Chakra Bind (Soul)

The spell's bonuses, if any, are doubled; Thus Mage Armor's armor bonus would increase to +8 rather than +4; Bull's Strength would grant a +8 bonus to Strength, and etc.

Chakra Bind (Totem)

The number of Essentia needed to maintain the spell is reduced by 1 per 5 Meldshaper levels.
