Way too strong on a crit-fisher. With one full attack on a decent TWFer with kukris and improved crit or keen, you're going to be felling people without any other class features needed.

It should at least be +2.

Whoa, is that a typo? Basically superior-vorpal for +1??? I know vorpal isn't worth a +5, but that's insane.

It has improved, and while I'm more wary about it being +2, it's good enough for me. Splitting it between this and GT Vorpal was a good idea.

Not a typo[edit]

It's not a typo. It is blocked by a +1 armor enchantment (Unblemished) and is an effect possessed by several weapons on this wiki already for much cheaper than 8000 gp. Second Vorpal activates on the first attack roll, so a 5% chance, this activaes decapitation on the second confirmation roll. I haven't done the math but it should be considerably less than 5%.

A 15-20 weapon scores a crit with 30% rate, say it confirms on 10-20 so 50% to confirm which is 3/10 x 1/2 = 3/20 or 15%. Then you need to confirm again so 7.5% for normal dismemberment, but that has to be a natural 20 to decapitate so 3/20 x 1/20 =3/400 or 0.75%. It is unlikely to occur and may not affect the opponent because it does not bypass immunity to crits. Grog toad (talk) 11:07, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Funny story, I received some critique over Unblemished (mostly over the bleeding aspect than the vorpal) so that might change later. However I would argue that the benefit was granted because vorpal is a rare effect, so immunity to it is less important. To illustrate my point, which of these would be more expensive: Immunity to all the attacks of specifically normal rats, or immunity to fire. The rats thing is strong, but unlikely to come up or matter. Er, I'm getting off topic, this is about dismemberment.
Right, I noticed the wording was familiar. Right, it came from battle shears! The thing is, that one requires a feat and, more importantly, it's limited to the shears and it's 20/x4 crit. I tightened the wording to be natural 20 only to remove the problem that this one has: You can slap this on your keen, urruke steel, pimped out scimitar with that one Dis themed class and get mad crazy 12-20 crit ranges. Even just doing a normal keen scimitar is more than enough.
Because this goes off a crit, and not a natural 20, it's considerably more than 5%. If you have a decent attack bonus, confirming isn't much harder. It's that whole probability trick with the coin, "what's the chance of the coin coming up heads", the answer is actually 50% each time no matter how many times you flip it. If you threat, you'll be fine with the subsequent confirmations.
This is much better than vorpal. I also disagree with saying it's ok because there is one item (homebrew or not) which provides immunity. Limb removal is pretty serious. You can do it, but at the cost of +1 it's accessible waaaay too early. For the price, I'd say +3 (if fixed to work on a nat 20) and... unsure as it is currently. +5, maybe. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:38, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
I'll grant that this is much better than Vorpal and probably worth more. I didn't see your battle shears, I actually saw the gigas bladed fan and woodcutters ax, which I notice Leziad edited just after your above response. The coin flip example is a common misconception, because while the result of any flip is 50%, getting two heads on two flips is 25%. You have to roll a natural twenty on the second confirmation roll. Bah it's due some revision, I'll make it a series of enchants insteadGrog toad (talk) 02:44, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
Looking over it, I think the initial crit threat should be limited to natural 20s (keep the normal confirmation otherwise). -- Eiji-kun (talk) 20:35, 18 December 2016 (MST)
