It's relatively interesting and useful. The name made me expect a HUD of some sort, but a multisensory telescope is pretty neat too.

This is currently overpriced for what it does. The gaze blocking is situation, but pretty alright. The thing here is the focus aspect. It's a line-of-sight clairvoyance, sorta, but its not worth 26k. 3k likely, at best.

If the price changes I'll re-review. With the new price change, and picking up on that bottle of air bit, 10k seems reasonable.

Switching the helmet on and off[edit]

I wonder how much a version of this helmet would cost if it allowed you to turn it's blocking effects on and off as a swift action? Specifically, allowing you to employ, say, a breath weapon or normal vision as if you removed the helmet (and becoming vulnerable, etc).

So, a well-oiled hinge. From an engineering perspective, I'd say it could be really cheap if you were willing to give up your immunity to gaseous things. What is the action cost for putting on or taking off a helmet, anyways? A move action? --Foxwarrior (talk) 18:17, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

So Move->Swift is like half of quicken, so it should add two levels of cost, right? So maybe +5000 gp or so. --Foxwarrior (talk) 22:48, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
My gut says that's too high but I'm not sure what else you'd base it off. Though it's not entirely quicken; quicken is giving you more than you normally would have while this one is technically mitigating a penalty you're under, so I would argue its cheaper. Well, avoidable drawbacks seldom reduce an item's price by more than 20%, so getting rid of the drawbacks could be +1000 to +2000 gp.
It's not like items with effects that aren't very similar to other item effects can really be priced with great precision, though, so if you went and declared that "in this campaign, Enhanced Reality Headsets have a visor that can be opened or closed as a Swift action" you wouldn't need to change the price at all. The better question is really: do you anticipate someone enjoying the moments when the drawbacks matter, in either an intellectual or sadistic sense? --Foxwarrior (talk) 01:22, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

<Resetting Indent> I really like this item. It brings back memories from a non-D&D campaign where a technological character had a similar helmet... Still I had a thought regarding costing the ability to open the helmet. What about the Hideaway weapon enhancement from the MIC? 2,000 gp for a swift-action command activation to fold away the helmet into a circlet or choker necklace. Which also put me in mind of the helm of Ra, or his Jaffa servants from the movie Stargate, that would be good fun. Another possibility would be if this helmet could be created as a graft/symbiote that activated as an immediate action when the wearer sensed danger, say at the cost of either some permanently sacrificed hit-points or hp damage done whenever the helmet activated in this fashion?
