As Jedi often have to work in climates that are difficult to deal with, ranging from snowstorms to deserts, they developed this Force power to make it a little easier. Sith, of course, quickly learned to use it too.
As long as you know this power, you function as if under an endure elements spell. If you are affected by a dispel magic or something similar, this ability is suppressed as if it were a magic item instead.
