Tholan’s sadism was the topic of much discussion at AM, but lesser known was his propensity for self-mutilation, epitomized by this gruesome spell. The presentation of his thesis is still one of the bloodiest in the history of the school due to the wounds it inflicted not only on the spell’s targets but also its caster. It wasn't until a consultation with board members who witnessed the event that Tholan refined the spell to cause his fingers to grow back.
The caster transforms their fingers into lethal projectile weapons and launches them at targets of their choosing within range. The caster may fire as many darts as they would normally make based on their BAB (using both hands to dual-wield if they so choose), each of which deals piercing damage as a dart for a creature of their size (1d4 for a Medium creature) that have an enhancement bonus equal to one third the caster’s level. Feats or effects that allow extra attacks not from BAB, such as haste or Rapid Shot, do not add to the number of darts the caster may shoot as a result of this spell.
These darts automatically hit any creature that the caster is able to target, but for each finger they shoot in this fashion they take 1 point of damage as they quite literally lose that finger. Enough of the caster's hand remains that the benefits of equipped gloves and rings are not lost. Lost fingers regrow on the caster's next turn, but the damage itself is not healed by this regeneration.
