Unofficial Summary: Zargon is an elder evil. It is bipedal, slime-covered, tentacled, one-eyed, one-horned aberration. It first appeared in the Nine Hells, but was later banished to the Material Plane by Asmodeus (after he couldn't destroy it). Unfortunately, the city of Cynidicea was built above where Zargon was entombed.

Features

Legendary Resistance (4/Day). [2] If Zargon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Regeneration. [2] Zargon regains 20 hit points at the start of each of its turns. If Zargon takes cold or fire damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of Zargon’s next turn. Zargon dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.

Shrouded Being.

[1] Zargon’s lair is a slimy cavern beneath the lost city of Cynidicea.

Lair Actions

[1] When fighting inside its lair, an zargon can use lair actions. On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the aberration takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the aberration can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Dissolution.
  • Spell Breaker.
  • Sucking Slime.

Regional Effects

[1] The region containing Zargon’s lair has the following effects:

  • Arcane Enervation.
  • Corrupted Water.
  • Eerie Weather.

If Zargon dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days.
