Xolotl

Personality

It is said that the xolotl are a very easy going species. They seem to try to see the bright side of things, and their culture has created many a philosopher who preached the wisdom of being content with the world, seeing the big picture, and engaging in simple creature comforts. Relaxing within baths is common, and public bathing is seen as a social event among their kind. It takes quite a lot for xolotl's to lose their cool, and many consider doing so shameful.

Physical Description

Xolotl are amphibious salamanders noted for their bright colors, wide mouths, and head frills which assist in their underwater breathing. They are roughly the size of dwarves, about 4-5 ft tall, with thick tails and soft rounded hands and feet. Their smooth skin come in various shades of brown, grey, albino, olive green, and black or dark blue. They lack hair, but their frills often are styled as if it were hair. Their traditional culture favors light clothing, robes, and jewelry made of bright and saturated colors with complex stylized patterns upon it. They favor tools and materials which can survive immersion in water and resistance to rust.

Relations

The xolotl's good vibes lead them to having positive relations to most other entities.

Alignment

Most xolotls trend towards neutrality or good alignments.

Lands

The xolotl hail from the warm rivers and lakes below, the high mountains above, and caves deep within. Wherever they are, they are always near water.

Religion

The traditional xolotl culture worshipped two twin gods, the god of sun and fire, and the god of lightning and the underworld. Little is known about this religion, as they rarely speak of it to outsiders.

Language

Xolotl speak Common and either Aquan or Dwarven, based on their proximity to their fellow mountain and cave dwelling kin.

Names

Xolotl names are best described as being "Nahuatl" in nature, complex and employing many unusual sounds. They have first names, last names often originally born from the area they hail from, and zero to many "middle names" which they gain over time in the form of titles. Translated, these names are spoken as such: "Perro the Smooth and Round Who Rides the Sky Beast of House Vigor."

Male Names: Axayácatl, Ejecatl, Icniuhtli, Neli

Female Names: Chamani, Istaksiwatl, Noquetzal, Siwapil

Family Names: Atl, Borgia, Chimalma, Tezozomoc

Racial Traits

• +2 Wisdom or +2 Charisma: Sensitive frills and good vibes are common traits of the xolotl.
• Humanoid (Anthro): They greatly resemble the animal axolotl. 
• Medium: As a Medium creature, a xolotl has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
• Xolotl base land speed is 30 feet. Swim 30 ft 
• Darkvision: A xolotl can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and a xolotl can function just fine with no light at all. 
• Amphibious (Ex): Xolotls can breath both air and water. 
• Damp Skin (Ex): Xolotls need to remain moist. In arid environments they suffer from dehydration twice as fast as other creatures, and count as watery creatures for the purpose of interacting with certain spells and effects. 
• Force Recovery (Ex): As a standard action, xolotls can grant themselves fast healing 2 for 1 minute + 1 round/HD. They can do this 1/day. 
• Regeneration (Ex): Xolotls have regeneration 0, bypassed by everything. While your regeneration is not helpful at healing yourself or preventing your death it allow you to regrow limbs within 3d6 days or allow to rejoin any severed limb to your body within 1 round if pressed against the wound.
• Automatic Languages: Common, Aquan or Dwarven (choose one)
