Bloodcryst is a fast acting disease which causes blood to form crystals, which causes blood clotting, internal bleeding, stiffness, and ultimately death as all blood in the body is turned into fragile red crystals resembling salt crystals.  Hardened creatures are easy to shatter into countless grains of glassy red sand, sending particulate matter into the air and allowing the seed of the disease to enter via the lungs.  It is spread also spread through contact with blood, dealt by injury with sharp crystal structures, exposure to an open wound.

Bloodcryst

Bloodcryst is a fast acting disease which causes blood to form crystals, leading to blood clotting, internal bleeding, stiffness and ultimately death as all blood in the body is turned into fragile red crystals resembling salt crystals. Hardened creatures are easy to shatter into countless grains of glassy red sand, sending particulate matter into the air and allowing the seed of the disease to enter via the lungs. It is also spread through contact with blood, dealt by injury with sharp crystal structures or exposure to an open wound.

Type: Inhalation or Injury (or Contact to an exposed wound) DC 17
Incubation Time: 1 day
Ability Damage: 1d3 Con and 1d6 Dex damage per day. Once the creature has taken more than half of it's Dex score in damage, it loses an additional -10 feet to its movement speed, and the damage becomes ability drain.

Effect: While alchemical in nature and not magical, it is extraordinarily virulent. While remove disease will help in its early stages, though once the ability damage becomes ability drain, only the effects of miracle, wish, or limited wish can remove the disease. At this point, it has begun to convert muscle tissues, bone marrow and other blood-rich organs into crystal as well. Those who reach 0 Dexterity immediately become immobile, statues of skin-covered crystal which shatter on a touch, releasing a cloud of disease out in a 20 foot burst. The cloud of infection will remain for 8 hours, before settling onto the ground. The disease itself can last for many years in this inert state, waiting for someone to disturb it.
Curing: A successful save stops the damage for the day but does not cure it. Three successful saves in a row purges you of the damage done.
