Bolo | 5 gp | 1d4 bludgeoning | 5 lbs | Finesse, Range (20/60), Special, Thrown |
A bolo consists of a length of cord with weights on each end. When thrown, it can entangle a target.
Entanglement: A Large or smaller creature hit by a bolo must succeed on a CD 12 Dexterity saving throw or become grappled until it is freed. A bolo has no effect on creatures that are formless, or creatures that are Huge or larger.
A creature can use its action to make a DC 10 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Dealing 5 slashing damage to the bolo (AC 10) also frees the creature without harming it, ending the effect and destroying the bolo.
When you use an action to attack with a bolo, you can make only one attack regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make. Also you may not use the bolo to attack using a bonus action or reaction.
