Alchemical Chef
You create wondrous food items with a combination of arcane and alchemical expertise.
Class: Chemist
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Elixirs, Bomb, Alchemist, Poison Use, Swift Dosing, Discovery 6th, Discovery 8th, Poison Immunity, Instant Alchemy
Benefit: An Alchemical Chef gains access to the following class features.
Delicacies: Alchemical chefs do not cast traditional spells, but rather use delicacies. Delicacies are short lived single portion food items which the alchemical chef creates each day, "preparing" the spell slot and "casting" it when the delicacy is consumed. They function as a potion, requiring no concentration check, suffering no arcane spell failure, and does not provoke for casting (though it provokes for the act of consumption). Others can even benefit from your delicacies by using their own actions. Delicacies last for 24 hours before becoming unstable and losing its magic. You can only create a new batch after the old batch has expired. Though not a spell list, the delicacy list counts as spells known for the purpose of activating magic items.
Feats and class features and special abilities that affect the creation or usage of potions may be used with delicacies as if they were potions.
An alchemical chef prepares delicacies which are drawn from the pathfinder alchemist formulae list. However, if you do not use pathfinder, use the spell list presented for the chemist base class. Like a wizard, an alchemical chef must choose and prepare their delicacies ahead of time. To learn, prepare, or create a delicacy, the alchemical chef must have an Intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against an alchemical chef’s delicacies is 10 + the spell level + the alchemical chef’s Intelligence modifier. All references to elixirs for the chemist are applicable to delicacies.
Like other spellcasters, an alchemical chef can create only a certain number of delicacies of each spell level per day. Their base daily spell allotment is given on Table: The Chemist. In addition, they receive bonus spells per day if they have a high Intelligence score.
Like a wizard, the alchemical chef may know any number of delicacies. Rather than a spellbook, they have a recipe book which they refer to when whipping up a new batch of delicacies.
This modifies the Elixirs class feature.
Bomb (Su): An alchemical chef's bombs are volatile pastries that otherwise function identically to the Bomb class feature of the Chemist.
This modifies the Bomb class feature.
From Scratch (Su): A 1st level alchemical chef can prepare food with supernatural speed, they may perform a craft(cooking) check as a 1 minute action creating enough meals for a number of medium creatures equal to 1/2 their craft check in excess of DC 10.
This replaces the Poison Use class feature.
Gourmand (Ex): A 2nd level alchemical chef gains 1/2 their class level as an insight bonus to Craft(Alchemy) and Craft(Cooking) checks so long as they have maximum ranks in the skill as a commitment to constantly improving their craft. In addition they may use these skills to identify alchemical compounds and ingredients, with the same DC as the DC to create.
This replaces the Alchemist class feature.
Edible Alchemy (Ex): A 3nd level alchemical chef gains Alchemical Mastery as a bonus feat; however, their alchemical items are created in the form of edible foods. A sunrod may be a baguette that glows when struck, a thunderstone may be a cookie, and so on. They are edible once their alchemical use has been expended.
This replaces the Swift Dosing class feature.
Soul Food (Su): At 6th level any edible food created by the alchemical chef may be imparted with supernatural curative by the chef, healing 1d6 points of damage for every 2 class levels the alchemical chef possesses. This ability may be applied daily to a number of food items equal to one half their alchemical chef levels plus their intelligence modifier (minimum 1).
At 8th level the alchemical chef may also impart a curative property to the food as the paladin Mercy class feature, as a paladin of their class level -3, using your intelligence modifier rather than charisma, where applicable. The effect of the food begins as soon as the recipient is holding or eating it, but they must complete eating it within 1 minute or else the mercy effect expires prematurely.
This replaces the 6th and 8th level Discovery class features.
Let Me Cook (Sp): An 11th level alchemical chef may once per day cast heroes' feast as a spell-like ability.
This replaces the Poison Immunity class feature.
Instant Alchemy (Ex): The 13th level alchemical chef can make almost any alchemical object on the fly. They can make a Craft check as a full round action and make any alchemical item or single serving food item for a medium or smaller creature, provided they have the materials for it. In addition you may now administer Soul Food as an immediate action.
This modifies the Instant Alchemy class feature.
