Astrometal[edit]

A strange metal from deep space, it is rarely found in fallen meteorite and in ancient ruins. In it raw forms it tend to look like glowing rocks of various colors and properties, and need to be refined and purified before it is usable for armorsmithing or weaponsmithing. Unrefined astrometal exist in several variant, based on the color it glows. The most common is mercurite which glow a orange to the rarest martianite which glows red. They usually glow with the same intensity as a torch, although large amounts gives off significantly more light. When refined and forged astrometal loses it glows and become a dark silvery metal, although some processes allow the material to retain it color and glow. Astrometal cannot rust and seem all but immune to the passage of time.

When forged into a armor, shield or weapon, astrometal is harder than steel but fall short of adamantine. A weapon made of astrometal bypass hardness of 15 or less. Medium armor made of astrometal grant DR 1/Adamantine while heavy armor grant DR 2/adamantine. Any items made of astrometal has damages dealt to it is reduced by 5, before hardness. If a heat pistol or any other similar weapons is built out of astrometal, it range increment increase by 20%.

Astrometal can be used to build 'energy' weapons, which project hardened energy as the weapon's blade, head or similar business end. They can contract to a size two sizes smaller for the purposes of holding and storing the item, through the weapon cannot be used in this state as it is typically reduced to just the hilt of the weapon. The wielder of an energy astrometal weapon can contract or expand the weapon as a free action. An energy astrometal weapon count as Adamantine for the purpose of bypassing hardness and DR. An expanded energy astrometal weapons always project light as a torch, the color of the energy correspond with the color of the variant of astrometal used in it construction.

The astrometal's energy parts have a hardness of 10 and 10 hit points per inch of thickness. If the weapon is sundered, it can be reformed simply by expanding the weapon again. The hilt itself can be sundered which can destroy it, but at a -4 penalty to attack and must contend with the material's heightened hardness and hit point. Any enhancement to the weapon applies to the hit point and hardness of both the energy parts and the astrometal parts.

Astrometal has 36 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 18.
