A small lazy purple lizard is crawling up the tree. Don't eat it, or you're end up with a bitter tasting mouth.
This purple lizard primarily feeds on nightshades, especially eggplants, and thus is sometimes known as eggplant lizards. Like the eggplants it is so fond of it itself absorbs flavors and toxins causing it to be bitter and foul tasting. However this property has caused efforts at domestication where, fed on specialized diets, the lizard meat ends up tasting very fine indeed once the toxins are cooked out. However the meat oxidizes and decays rapidly, so meals must be fresh.
Combat[edit]
Most run from combat, as their tiny bites are ineffective. Wild ones taste bad and thus are usually avoided as a food source.
Cold Blooded (Ex): In ambient temperatures under 50 degrees, the aubergine lizard is afflicted with single actions only as a zombie.
Toxic Flesh (Ex): Creatures biting or otherwise ingesting an aubergine lizard must make a DC 11 Fortitude save against being sickened for 1 minute/nauseated for 1 minute on the secondary save. However even on a successful save they are sickened for 1 round. The DC is Constitution based.
Skills: Aubergine lizard have a +4 racial bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks, and a +8 racial bonus on Balance and Climb checks. An aubergine lizard can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. An aubergine lizard uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength modifier for Climb and Swim checks.
Familiar[edit]
The aubergine lizard can be taken as a familiar. It grants the owner a +4 bonus to saves against poison.
