Awakened Hero

Life is unfair. Some individuals may be born weak or crippled, unable to really stand for themselves. However due to a wishing star, the intervention of a deity, a power passed between successors, or the words of an ancient wizard, such an individual may gain a spark of a greater power. The awakened hero is one of such individuals, who gained the ability to transform into an idealized version of themselves, free of their weaknesses.

More often than not, they seek to right the wrongs they suffered and protect those weaker than themselves. However some poor souls let their bitterness consume them and give in to the feeling of revenge against an unfair world.

Class: Vigilante

Level: 1st, 2nd

Replaces: Social Talent (1st), Vigilante Talent (2nd)

Benefit: An awakened hero gain the following class features:

Awakened Transformation (Su): An awakened hero has three identities: Vigilante, Social and Powerless. The powerless identity behaves as the social identity, except the vigilante takes a -4 penalty to Strength, cannot use her vigilante talents (or any spells or maneuvers) granted by her vigilante class levels) and suffer from an impairment (see below). The vigilante's powerless identity (names, titles and such) may be the same as her social identity, or she may differentiate them.

A awakened hero gain the magical child's transformation sequence class feature, but only when changing from her powerless identity to her social or vigilante identity or from those identities to her powerless identity. The time to change between her vigilante and social identity remains the same.

When an awakened hero changes from her powerless state to her vigilante state, she may don an armor anywhere on her person (including in an extradimensional space) with the same action as transforming. She may do the same for weapons, shields and wondrous items as long as the item slot/hands are free. Similarly when she changes in her powerless identity she may store such items anywhere on her person.

The awakened hero's transformation has a flaw, if she is exposed to a dispel magic, greater dispel magic or mage's disjunction spell she risks being turned back into her powerless form. The vigilante must make a Will save (DC 10 + spell level + the caster's casting ability modifier) or immediately turn back into her powerless form and be unable to change identity for 1d4 rounds, or the spell's duration for mage's disjunction. A friendly casting of dispel magic or greater dispel magic does not risk turning the awakened hero back into her powerless identity.

Impairment: A awakened hero suffers from crippling impairments, choosing an oracle curse from the following list: Clouded Vision, Deaf, Lame, Plagued or Wasting. She gains all benefits and penalties of the curse as an oracle of half her vigilante level while in her powerless identity.

This ability replaces the social talent gained at 1st level.

Spark of Heroism (Ex): An awakened hero's will is strong, as it was hardened by the struggles of her mortal life. At 2nd level she gains a +1 bonus on her Will save, this bonus increases by +1 at 6th level and each 4 levels thereafter.

This ability replaces the vigilante talent gained at 2nd level.
