Battle Rancher
A battle rancher is unlike many rangers, he isn't a man of the wild, but rather a man of the field. Their skills are in maintaining animals, teaching them to behave and if need be, defend her land. Yee haw!
Class: Ranger
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Wild Empathy, Animal Companion (altered), Spellcasting
Benefit: A battle rancher gain the following class features:
Weapon Proficiency: A battle rancher is proficient with all simple weapons, plus the handaxe, sap, shortbow, whip and all firearms.
Animal Companion (Ex): A battle rancher gain an animal companion as a druid of their level. However they may only select domestic animals, such as the dog, riding dog, horse and pony.
Rancher Training (Ex): A battle rancher add half her class level as a bonus on Handle Animal checks and can teach an additional trick to their animal companion at 3rd level and each odd level thereafter. This extra trick does not count against the limit of tricks the animal can learn. If the battle rancher loses her animal companion, she automatically teaches those extra tricks to her new animal companion.
Ranch (Ex): At 4th level, a battle rancher can establish a ranch. First she must purchase a Farm which can maintain one person and her current animal companion. The battle rancher can store an additional animal companion in the ranch and at each 4 levels thereafter, the farm must be expanded to accommodate them. If the battle rancher visits the ranch, the rancher can exchange her current animal companion for another on the ranch, transferring all benefits to the new animal. The ranch is self-sufficient to pay its employees and feed the animals without profit or loss. The battle rancher can only maintain a single ranch at any given time, but she can change it location (or rebuild it if destroyed) by acquiring more farmlands and building a new ranch.
