Supposedly a powerful weapon forged for a great hero, no one could confirm its power, for it is eternally trapped within its ornate sheath.
This longsword was a nigh legendary blade able to destroy monsters in a single swing, supposedly. It was granted to a chosen hero of legend who was sent to defeat the evil of the land, but in the end, it was never drawn from its ornate blue and gold sheath due to cowardice and a dread curse fell over the blade. Now it will never be drawn from the sheath, though it allows some amount of combat strength even in its current state.
Swung around in its sheathe it is effectively a +1 longsword that deals bludgeoning damage, and may deal non-lethal damage at no penalty. In addition, if the user fights defensively, the weapon gains a +4 bonus on damage and automatically confirms critical threats. If the user takes total defense, they can continue to take attacks of opportunity at penalty (as if they were fighting defensively, including the damage bonus).
While wielding this blade, the first three squares you move through when withdrawing do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Supposedly, if the curse was ever lifted, the blade could be unsheathed and it would return to its true form, but no known means of doing this have been revealed. The nature of the magic it would have possessed is unknown.
